Thirty-four years ago David Levine, a Jewish immigrant lad of 16, unable to speak a word of English, stood bewildered in the streets of Seattle.
This week the erstwhile lad, now a matured man of 50, became the first Jew in Seattle’s history to head the legislative branch of this city’s government when he was elected president of the city council.
Thus he becomes Seattle’s Public Citizen No. 2, ranking only under Mayor Charles L. Smith.
