Ugo Carusi, former Commissioner for Immigration and Naturalization, left today for Europe on a special assignment for President Truman to study the DP situation, particularly in relation to Truman’s refugee immigration policy, the White Horse announced.
Carusi, who was recently appointed to a special State Department post dealing with DP matters, will visit Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland where he will confer with military and civilian leaders and International Refugee Organization officials. He is expected to return about the end of December to report on the refugee immigration program and suggest possible improvements in the immigration procedure and law.
