Former Israeli Premier Shimon Peres began contacting legislators to collect the 10 signatures necessary to declare his candidacy for prime minister, Israel Radio reported. Peres said he would withdraw his candidacy if an Israeli- Palestinian peace agreement is reached by the time President Clinton leaves office on Jan. 20, the report said.
