Former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres is slated to join six other winners of the Nobel Peace Prize, including former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, this week in launching an appeal from Rome for world peace in the new millennium. The ceremony is scheduled to take place Wednesday, the traditional anniversary of the founding of Rome, at a ceremony in Rome’s city hall.
