A former S. S. general, who headed a special task force to deal with the Jews, is being held here while nine different investigations are being conducted into his activities during the Nazi regime, the public prosecutor’s office revealed today.

The general is Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski. Most of the charges against him deal with the execution of partisans and Jews in occupied Polish territory. One charge goes back to the early days of the Nazi regime when Adolf Hitler personally led the “purge” of the Nazi ranks following the Roehm putsch in 1934. Bach-Zelewski is charged with murder in that incident.

The prosecutor announced that the Polish Government had delivered to West German authorities in Berlin a mass of documentary material dealing with Bach-Zelewski’s operations on Polish territory.
