Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday that President Hafez Assad of Syria does not appear to have any information about Israelis held prisoner in Lebanon. He said there were no Israeli POWs in Syria. Carter, who spoke to reporters during a visit to Acre, was referring to his meeting with Assad in Damascus last week before coming to Israel.
