The Panamanian vessel Beauharnois, formerly a U.S. Navy corvette, was believed today to be somewhere in the Mediterranean en route to Palestine with 1,300 visaless Jewish refugees.
The ship sailed from the Italian port of Vado yesterday in defiance of Italian authorities, who had ordered it to remain at anchor until an investigation had been made. The passengers embarked at Vado from trucks after midnight on Tuesday.
