Forty Jews, including one woman, who are being held in Casablanca prison, were brought before a Casablanca examining magistrate this weekend and were charged with offences against the internal and external security of the state, it was reported here today.
The accused, some of whom have already appointed defense counsels, are expected to be brought to trial in a few weeks. Several prominent Jews, however, were reported to be trying to intervene with the Moroccan authorities to obtain the release of the accused, who have been under arrest for nearly two months.
