Some 40 more Chilean Jews will leave this week to settle permanently in Israel, bringing the total to leave during the first six months of this year to 100.
About 70 percent of those who will have left by the end of this month are pioneers trained on farms in Chile for their new life in Israel, and the remainder of the immigrants are parents of pioneers who left earlier and have prepared homes for their families. It is estimated that slightly over 200 Jews have left Chile for permanent settlement in Israel since the Jewish State was founded. The total Jewish population of Chile is 30,000.
