Mrs. Hannah G. Solomon, founder of the National Council of Jewish Women, was honored on the occasion of her seventy-fifth birthday in two celebrations, held Sunday and Monday.
On Sunday evening, Mrs. Solomon was the guest of honor at a dinner and reception at Sinai Temple.
Miss Jane Addams of Hull House, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, internationally famed social worker, was the principal speaker at the dinner. Addresses were also delivered by Dr. Louis L. Mann, spiritual leader of the congregation and Dr. Robert Sonnenschein, its president.
Yesterday a second celebration was held at the regular meeting of the Chicago Section of the National Council of Jewish Women, held at the Standard Club. Miss Addams, who has known Mrs. Solomon for a half a century, was again a leading speaker and addresses were also delivered by Mrs. Arthur Brin, president of the Council of Jewish Women and Mrs. Martbin Barbe, the oldest member of the Chicago section. Mrs. Solomon and Mrs. Brin spoke over station WMAQ on the work of the National Council of Jewish Women.
