The 31st annual conference of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research opened here with the reading of papers on a number of topics concerning various aspects of Jewish life in the United States and other countries.
The conference, which will last four days, will hear reports on recent trends in American Jewish sociology, achievements in the field of American Jewish Historiography, the bearing of emancipation on Jewish survival, the mobility aspirations of immigrant Jews, and other subjects. Prof. Horace M. Kallen is chairman of YIVO’s Academic Council.
