Four-day Parley Will Discuss All Aspects of Jewish Welfare

A four-day national conference on Jewish welfare here and abroad will be held here under auspices of the National Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, it was announced yesterday by Ira M. Younker, Council vice-president.

The conference will open Thursday, January 3, with a luncheon at the Congregation Emanu-El Community House.

WARBURG TO PRESIDE

Five hundred lay leaders and social workers throughout the land are expected to attend the parley, which will be under the direction of Felix Warburg, general chairman.

Others who are scheduled to participate in the four-day sessions include William J. Shroder, president of the National Council, League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees from Germany, Sidney E. Hollander of Baltimore, chairman of the program committee, and other noted personalities.

Besides a program covering welfare problems in this country, it is expected that outstanding leaders in welfare activities abroad will give reports on conditions of Jews in their lands.

Following the opening luncheon, an afternoon session will discuss the place of the synagogue in welfare activities. Thursday evening will be devoted to a dinner at which Mr. Warburg will make the keynote address. The program will then be presented and Mr. McDonald will speak on the problems of reconstruction and relief for refugees and emigrants from Germany.

TO HEAR REPORTS

Jewish cultural activities will be discussed Friday morning with round tables in the afternoon. A religious service will follow in the evening. General business will be held Saturday evening and committee reports will be received and acted upon.

The Sunday afternoon program will take up problems of Jewish adjustment and integration in American life and the conference will wind up in the evening with discussions on American interest in Palestine and steps to be taken in the federation movement.
