Four female Israeli soldiers were given suspended sentences after they refused to give lectures to soldiers serving in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, saying they feared for their personal safety. Israel Radio reported that the four, members of the Israel Defense Force’s education corps, traveled to the Gaza Strip after they were threatened with jail sentences if they refused to heed orders and they were assured that adequate security measures would be taken.
