Four Jews are being prominently mentioned for the position on the Supreme Court bench of New York, left vacant as the result of the promotion of Judge Sherman to succeed Justice Proskauer, whose resignation from the Appellate Division goes into effect March 10. Those in the running for the vacant judgeship are Jonah J. Goldstein, prominent attorney, Benjamin Schrieber, Mayor Walker’s campaign manager, Sol Stroock, philanthropist and educator, and Bennett Siegelstein. Those in a position to know, feel that Mr. Goldstein and Mr. Schreiber have the inside track.
