Four Noted Jewish Leaders Arrive for Series of Vital Conferences Here

Four outstanding Jewish leaders arrived here yesterday on the Ile de France to participate in a series of conferences to be held in New York City during the next three weeks at which problems of vital concern to Jews throughout the world will be discussed. They are Neville Laski, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, who will preside at the meeting of the administrative committee of the Jewish Agency for Palestine; Dr. Maurice Hexter, American member of the Jewish Agency Executive in Jerusalem; Dr. Bernard Kahn, European director of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and Dr. Joseph Rosen, director of Agro-Joint activities in Russia.

Jacob Landau, managing director of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and publisher of the Jewish Daily Bulletin, also returned on the same liner from an extensive tour of Jewish Telegraphic Agency activities in several parts of the world, including Palestine.

Mr. Laski, who is also co-chairman of the Joint Foreign Committee, will be a guest speaker at the annual meeting of the American Jewish Committee and will participate in meetings of the Joint Council of the American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress and the B’nai B’rith.

HOPES FOR UNITY HERE

Calling his visit “an attempt to return the courtesies of representatives of American Jewish organizations whose counsel has been of such great help to us in Europe,” Mr. Laski declared himself “anxious to meet not only my friends of the American Jewish Committee, our traditional correspondents, but also representatives of every shade of public opinion in American Jewry to discuss the problems which are our common concern.”
