Four out of five Americans picked the Holocaust as one of history’s most important lessons, according to a recent survey commissioned by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. But more than 70 percent falsely believed that the United States granted asylum to all European Jews who wanted it. The survey of 1,641 adults, which comes as the museum marks its fifth anniversary, has a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
