A cable signed by four Leningrad Jews was received at the Upper Galilee settlement of Baram today. It expressed horror at the slaying in the terrorist ambush and offered condolences to the victims’ families. Baram is the settlement nearest Avivim where most of the victims came from. “Profound shock” over the murder of the school children was expressed in cables sent by the Council of Student and Youth Newspapers here today to Secretary General U Thant of the United Nations and the director general of UNESCO in Geneva. The cable noted that the victims were “our own age and younger.” It said, “We hope that the youth the world over and in the neighboring Arab states in particular will publicly voice their horror at this act.”
