Cash collections amounting to $13,006.60 in the $14,000,000 Campaign has just been announced by Henry H. Rosenfelt, National Director of the American Jewish Relief Committee.
There still remains a substantial sum owing by delinquents in various Cities throughout the country and vigorous efforts are being made to obtain payments. In many communities, lawyers have been retained to bring suit against individuals who are well able to pay but arbitrarily decline to do so. In New Jersey, Harry Steiner, Esq., a prominent lawyer has succeeded in obtaining over $15,000 by suit or compromise.
During the remaining weeks of the present year local committee’s will send out workers in a final attempt to collect the subscriptions before turning the records over to the lawyers. Mr. Rosenfelt estimates that a major portion of the money due will be obtained without legal assistance.
