France created a new commission to process the claims of Jews whose assets were looted by the nation’s pro-Nazi Vichy regime. Pierre Drai, the honorary president of France’s highest court and head of the commission, said his panel has already received more than 1,000 requests from Jews living in Israel. He estimated it would take the commission about six months to handle each case.
