France’s foreign minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy, said the Iranian president’s comments, in which he said the solution to the Middle East crisis was to destroy Israel, were “absolutely unacceptable on anyone’s part, especially from a head of state.” That came days after France had lauded Iran as a force for stability in the Middle East.
