France Extends De Jure Recognition to Israel; Names Minister to Tel Aviv

The French Government has extended de jure recognition to the state of Israel, the French Foreign Ministry announced here today. Earlier this year, on Jan. 24, France granted Israel de facto status.

Edouard Guyon, counsellor at the French embassy in Berne, has been named Minister to Tel Aviv. Maurice Fischer, Israeli diplomatic representative in Paris, has been elevated to the rank of Minister.
