Calling for the development of a more active Middle East policy, Maurice Naevelen, former Governor General of Algeria, declared here today that France is solidly aligned with Israel. Noting the existence of what he termed cracks in the Arab front, the former French official asserted that exploitation of these differences could form the basis for a new French policy.
Meanwhile, it was made known that the Zionist Federation of France will sponsor a meeting here tomorrow night on “Israel, France and the Suez Conflict.” Featured speakers at the meeting will include Diomede Catroux, a former Cabinet minister. Edward Dupreux, a deputy and president of the parliamentary group “France-Israel” Pierre Dreyfus-Schmidt, a deputy; Leo Hamon, MRP Senator; Jacques Piette, a deputy and secretary of “France-Israel,” and Jacques Soustelle, now a deputy and formerly Governor General of Algeria.
