The rearmament of Germany will never occur unless the combined might of Italy and France are insufficient to frustrate Adolf Hitler’s ambitions along military lines.
This was learned today from French delegates to the Levantine Fair at Bari, who said the Paris government and Italy have reached an accord for common action to block restoration of the Reich to its former fighting prowess.
The delegates declared also that France and Italy have come to a complete agreement on the question of Austrian independence, and have pledged themselves to take common action against the Nazis.
Italy will join France in her fight to keep German armaments at the level fixed by the Treaty of Versailles, the visitors said, although it is not to be inferred that Premier Mussolini has abandoned his desire for revision of that instrument.
