France may take the initiative in attempting to solve the European refugee problem by opening her frontiers to homeless Jews, the Daily Mirror reported here today from Paris.
The newspaper said that Foreign Minister Georges Bidault favors the idea and has discussed it with representatives of French Jewry. Moreover, the Mirror asserts, there is support among all coalition political parties in the country for the opening of large refugee camps capable of accommodating 250,000 Jews. It has been pointed out in France that such a move would recruit needed manpower as well as win wide sympathy, especially in America, for French requests for financial aid.
