France, now practically the only country in Europe to which the Jews of Eastern Europe could immigrate and find employment, is threatening to close its gates to immigrants. The possibility of this action, foreshadowed by an announcement from Premier Tardieu that France is threatened with unemployment, is causing great anxiety among the Jews of France.

In making this announcement M. Tardieu cited the campaign in the French newspapers for the stoppage of immigration.
