The French Government announced yesterday that it would deliver twelve more Mystere jet fighters to Israel to augment the dozen delivered last month. These planes were urgently sought by Israel to balance the Soviet jet bombers and fighters purchased by Egypt.
A French Foreign Ministry announcement said that the United States had waived its rights to the delivery of these planes under arrangements that called for the manufacturer to deliver them to NATO. This, the French announcement said, would make possible “a last delivery of twelve” planes ordered by Israel.
