France’s foreign minister denied allegations by a senior Jewish leader that he had blamed anti- Semitism on the absence of Israeli-Palestinian peace. A spokesman for Dominique de Villepin said Wednesday that the minister “has never expressed such thoughts nor used such remarks.” Earlier Wednesday, Roger Cukierman, president of the CRIF umbrella organization of French Jews, told foreign journalists in Paris that “unlike what Mr. de Villepin thinks, I do not think that anti-Semitism will disappear with peace in the Middle East.”
