Frances N. Harrison, executive director of the Federation of Jewish Charities and nationally-known social work executive, will become the top professional leader of the Federation on Jan. 1, it was announced today. Miss Harrison’s elevation to the highest professional position ever attained by a woman in American Jewish communal activity will coincide with Dr. Kurt Peiser’s departure from his position as executive vice-president of the Federation to become director of development of the University of Pennsylvania.
