France’s leading far-right politician reinstated one of his chief rival’s allies to a party post in an attempt to smooth over discontent within the National Front. But Jean-Marie Le Pen’s move seemed not to have the desired effect at a weekend meeting of the group’s leadership, as tumultuous sessions indicated that the power struggle between Le Pen and rival Bruno Megret is continuing.
