France’s president said a U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon did not need 15,000 troops. The 15,000-troop figure outlined by U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the Israel-Hezbollah war, is “excessive” because of the small amount of territory in question, Jacques Chirac said last Friday.
