France’s prime minister said Maurice Papon should have served out his 10-year prison sentence for helping send Jews to Nazi death camps. Jean-Pierre Raffarin said Sept. 26 he supported the justice minister’s filing a petition with France’s highest court to overturn a recent decision releasing Papon on the grounds that he was too old and sick to remain in prison.
