Police were today investigating the desecration of a Jewish cemetery here, in which 11 tombstones were toppled by vandals who also painted a swastika in oil on the entrance to a Roman Catholic church, and uprooted seven tombstones in an adjacent Christian cemetery.
A police spokesman said that it was possible that the vandals desecrated the Christian cemetery to disguise their anti-Semitic intent. He said a $250 reward had been offered for information leading to the capture of the vandals.
