By almost a unanimous vote, the Frankfurt municipality has endorsed statements issued by the Social Democratic and Christian Democratic Parties here calling for a boycott of the film “Immortal Beloved,” produced by Nazi collaborator Veit Harlan, who directed the anti-Semitic film “Jew Suess.”
The statements also labelled as “fake,” a poll by a film distributing company which purported to prove that Frankfurt residents, by a vote of better than eight to one, favored the exhibiting of “Immortal Beloved.” The Mayor of Frankfurt, Dr. H. Kolb, expressed regret that there was no legal way for him to ban the film.
