Steps to join in the movement to combat activities of Communists and fifth column Nazi propagandists were scheduled to be taken today as the Jewish National Workers Alliance, fraternal organization, opened its thirtieth anniversary convention with 2,500 delegates and guests from all parts of the country in attendance.
In a keynote address, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the American Jewish Congress, expressed the conviction that the totalitarian states will be defeated in the present European conflict. Other speakers urged the delegates not to despair and to have faith that justice would rule on earth and that the democratic system would survive.
Delegates were greeted by David Pinski, national president of the Alliance. Louis Segal, national secretary, gave his annual report. Other speakers included Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner of Cleveland, and Baruch Zuckerman, labor Zionist leader.
