A movement to raise funds to supply Russian Jews with tools has been inaugurated under the auspices of the Progressive Order of the West, a fraternal organization with a membership of 12,000 having headquarters here.
At a conference of local Jewish organizations held at the Hotel Statler Sunday, called on the initiative of the Progressive Order of the West, it was resolved to launch a campaign for funds. A quota of $30,000 was adopted for St. Louis.
The fraternal order will issue a call to its lodges throughout the country to contribute toward the fund, it was announced. The campaign here will open in May. Judge Moses Hartmann was chosen head of the campaign committee.
