A dinner in honor of A. J. Freiman, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada for the past ten years, was given last night by the Zionist Order of Habonim on the occasion of the opening of the United Palestine Campaign of which he is chairman. Mr. Freiman ranks among the outstanding Jewish citizens not only of Ottawa, but of the Dominion as well. He is a member of the Actions Committee of the World Zionist Organization and has been president of the Adath Yeshurun Congregation, the oldest synagogue in Ottawa, for the last 25 years.
Lyon Cohen, well-known Montreal Jewish communal worker, was on the occasion of his 62nd birthday today initiated as an honorary member of the Zionist Order of Habonim. Mr. Cohen is one of the outstanding leaders of Jewish welfare work in Canada. He was chairman of the Canadian Jewish Congress, president of the Baron de Hirsch Institute, and now holds the presidency of the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue, the wealthiest congregation in the Dominion.
