French Parliamentarians continued today their onslaught against Jewish immigration into Canada. H.E. Brunelle, protesting British efforts to settle refugees in Canada and other British territories, declared: “The Hebrew race has created great difficulties in other countries and we should be careful. They nearly always live in cities, meaning they will be on relief or take jobs from Canadians.”
Quebec members, speaking to the J.T.A. correspondent, threatened trouble for Canadian Jews if they persisted in urging refugee immigration here. The Alberta Government, it was learned, is considering a plan for large-scale Jewish settlement in that province. Jewish parliamentarians, however, declare the effort is useless as the Federal Government is adamant against a change in the immigration laws to permit of increased Jewish entry.
