Last week’s issue of “Le Goglu,” a local French weekly, is entirely devoted to an attack on the Jews. This paper is one of the three French-Canadian weeklies which are using anti-Semitism as their weapon in a campaign against the Liberal provincial government. These papers cry, “Tascherau has sold the province to the Jews.”
The anger of these papers has been aroused by the government’s decision to give the Jews the right to separate schools in Montreal and by the recent election of three Jews to the municipal council of Montreal. Jewish newsboys who declined to sell the papers have been threatened that they will be deprived of the right to sell papers on the streets.
