French engineers here are planning enlargement of the port of Elath, to accommodate increased navigation after freedom of passage had been guaranteed permanently in the Akaba waterway, and the establishment of a shipyard at Israel’s Mediterranean port of Haifa.

A three-man delegation of French experts from the Dunkirk Engineering Company arrived here today to plan the Haifa project. The Dunkirk firm had previously laid out the plans for the railway line to Elath. Enlargement of the port of Elath will be blueprinted by the director of the French port of L ‘Havre. He had laid out Elath’s present facilities.
