Foreign Minister Georges Bidault was subjected to sharp questioning on the Exodus incident today when he appeared before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
Marcel Caohin, Communist chairman of the Committee, asked under what Anglo-French agreement were the deportees being brought back to France, while other members queried Bidault on different aspects of the deportation. When he refused to make a statement at the present time, several members said they saw no reason for secrecy.
Dr. Nahum Goldmann, of the Jewish Agency, and Marc Jarblum, president of the Federation of Jewish Societies in France, conferred today with Minister of the Interior Edouard de Preux concerning the plight of the refugees. They thanked the Minister, whom they found sympathetic, for the humane attitude taken by the government.
