Both French and Israeli sources here denied today reports that France had been assisting Israel to construct an atom bomb. The Israel Embassy said. in an official statement, that while France and Israel had a scientific agreement under which they cooperated on atomic energy, this agreement did not exist for military purposes and was exclusively for the peaceful uses of atomic energy. Under the agreement, the French benefit from Israeli production of heavy water while Israel’s atomic scientists benefit from the results of experiments at the French national research center.
