The delegates of the 250 Jewish communities of France have condemned any European initiative which might result in the recognition of the Palestine Liberation Organization. Expressing solidarity regarding Israel’s security, the delegates stated their total opposition to the recognition of the PLO as long as it does not modify its charter and renounced its avowed aim to destroy the Jewish State.
In a communique published last night after the election of France’s new Chief Rabbi, Rene Sirat, they condemned as contrary to the interest of Middle East peace any initiative which might thwart the Camp David peace process which has already led to concrete results. The delegates said they hoped the French government’s attitude towards the Middle East problem would be less biased.
