Under the leadership of Diamant Berger, a writer well known here, a group of Jewish ex-officers has formed a “National Union of Patriotic Israelites,” which aims to fight the spread of radical and revolutionary ideas among French Jewry.
The forming of the new organization is regarded as a reaction against the tendency of the League for Combatting Anti-Semitism which identifies the movement with extremist parties.
Assimilated and conservative Jewry here and a number of leading newspapers have expressed satisfaction with the new group, the manifesto of which was printed in full on the first page of Le Matin.
