Denouncing the Nazi pogroms as “shameful acts that will remain branded on the shoulders of the criminals responsible,” the Consistoire Israelite, central representative body of French Jewry, resolved today to do everything in its power to ensure the most satisfactory possible relief action. The resolution expressed “pain and indignation” at the persecutions which, it stated, had occurred under orders of the present heads of the Reich. The organization met for the first time since the pogroms.
