French Jews raised more funds to meet local welfare needs in 1952 than in any other year in their history, it was reported here today.
The United Jewish Social Fund raised 155,000,000 francs (approximately $440,000) during 1952 as compared to 95,000,000 francs last year. The organization’s goal for 1953 is 200,000,000 francs. The increasing ability of the French Jewish community to support its own welfare program has permitted the Joint Distribution Committee. in reduce its aid program in this country.
