Jacques Soustelle, French Minister of Information, declared last night that Israel and France “with courage and perseverance will see the triumph of our common ideals.” Speaking to the closing session of the national conference of French Zionists-Revisionists, M. Soustelle emphasized his friendship for Israel–in the past, in the present and in the future.
President of the France-Israel Alliance, M. Soustelle compared Israel’s present situation with that of France, asserting that “we have gone through a painful period, but we are now at the entrance to the promised land. Our trials, however, are not finished and we must make great efforts to overcome the obstacles in our path.”
Menahem Beigin, leader of the Israel Herut Party, stressed the need for a Franco-Israeli alliance. He has been stressing this theme in conversations with French leaders since his arrival here last week.
