Pere Dieux, well known French preacher of Paris, who is now here heading a pilgrim group, visited Tel Aviv, Petach Tikvah and the Jewish settlements in the Emek.
In a letter to Col. Frederick H. Kisch of the Jerusalem Executive, the preacher expressed the favorable impression made upon him by the Jewish colonies. He plans to publish his impressions of the Jewish upbuilding work on his return to Paris.
Mark L. Gerstle of San Francisco was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal of the United States War Department for “exet ptionally distinauished and meritoriouns service” during the war, according to the citation which accompanied the medal.
During the war Mr. Gerstle served as captain, and later as major in the quartermaster corps. He was stationed at Fort Mason. His “distinguished service” according to the citation, consisted of “purchases, handling and inspection of clothing and equipage.”
