A call to include Israel in NATO and other European organizations was voiced here today by Jean Raymond-Laurent, deputy chairman of the French Senate and a member of the French parliamentary delegation currently visiting Israel.
Speaking before the International Relations Club here, Sen. Raymond-Laurent said that the same reasons which existed for including Turkey in NATO hold for Israel’s inclusion. He insisted that though Israel is not part of the geographical unit of Europe it belongs to that continent from security economic and cultural viewpoints.
The statement came in reply to a question posed to the French Senator by Moshe Sharett, former Premier of Israel.
