French Troops Guard Palestine Borders to Halt Arms Smugglers

French authorities stationed troops today on the Palestine frontiers of Syria and Lebanon to prevent smuggling of arms to rebels in the Holy Land and to forestall invasions by armed bands.

Three automobiles containing 1,000 rifles were detained at the Syrian border when they tried to enter Palestine yesterday.

Arabs continued to prevent sending of food to Palestine. Five trucks laden with vegetables and eggs en route to Tel Aviv were destroyed at Sidon. All produce trucks on the way to Palestine were being searched at Beirut, Damascus and Sidon.

Dock workers at Beirut refused to load food and a cargo aboard the Jewish steamer Richard Borchardt of the Atid line. The steamer left for Palestine without a cargo.
