A series of courses in various branches of Jewish knowledge, offering Jewish young men and women an opportunity to acquire the fundamentals of a Jewish education, will be given under the auspices of the Israel Friedlaender Classes beginning next month in various sections of the city, it has been announced by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. The classes, which form the Extension Department of the Teachers’ Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, are named in memory of Israel Friedlaender, the famous Jewish scholar, who lost his life while engaged on a public mission in the Ukraine shortly after the World War.
The courses offered are in elementary and advanced Hebrew, Jewish History and Literature, Talmud, Palestine, Jewish Songs and Melodies, Jewish Customs and Ceremonies, Jewish Philosophy, Pedagogy and Jewish Club Leadership. Special professional courses are offered to those who wish to prepare themselves to teach in Jewish Sunday Schools, or to conduct Jewish clubs and extension activities.
